REIGN OF TERROR ARE: Reggae: vocals and guitars Kris: Bass Aarron: Drums ABOUT REIGN OF TERROR: Originating from Canberra the capital city of Australia, Reign of Terror play a traditional style of death/thrash metal which we like to call "soul eroding death metal" or like many now days are calling it "Beer Metal". Influenced by the metal greats such as Black Sabbath, Venom, Metallica, Slayer, Carcass, Deicide, Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Nile and many others, Reign of Terror create something which is unique, varied and appeals to most metalheads. REIGN OF TERROR: A BRIEF HISTORY Reign of Terror first started in 94/95 by Reggae, who recruited some of his friends and managed to play a fledgling couple of shows around canberra venues which are now long since forgotten. The original sound of the band was shaped in adulation of bands like Venom, Metallica, Slayer, Deicide, Carcass and Morbid Angel. In 1995 this lineup managed to record a shakey but catchy demo which circulated to a few friends and associates. While not particularly earthshatteringly brilliant this demo laid the foundations of many years of feindish heavy metal that would follow. In 1996 the line-up solidified to feature drummer Victor and guitar player Nathan who recorded the "Scavenging the Dead" demo. The recording was a bit rough, but the music showed through and gained the band good reviews around australia and the world as well as the start in a long line-up of gigs Nathan Eventually left and was replaced by Jeff in 1997 and this line-up continued to play shows through out that year and record the infamous "Under Blackened Skies" EP. Support slots to some of Australias biggest metal bands followed such as Alchemist, Destroyer666 and Sadistik Exekution. Jeff grew tired of the death metal direction of the band and left to form his own outfit called planets collide (which mutated into System Addict) but the band continued to gain support slot after support slot including internationally renowned acts such as Mayhem, Destruction, Nevermore, Impaled Nazerene, Incantation, and Pungent Stench A constant stream of line-up changes hindered the band who by 2004 had found a line-up in the shape of the newly returned Victor and new guy Kris on Bass and of course Reggae on guitar. Gigs followed including many at Reggae's bar the Rockape, and supports to Dismember amongst others, and later that year, the release of the bands 2nd CD "the book of the Dead" in late 2005 ... almost 7 years after its predecessor. Victor again left the band in 2006 and was replaced by Aarron whose committment enabled the band to actually play outside their hometown of canberra as well as a string of successful local shows. Currently the band are gearing up for a series of shows around their hometown Canberra as well as writing songs for a new relase in the near future. |
